Thousands of years ago, Abram was a wealthy pagan-worshiping man in the ancient land of UR (what we know today as southern Iraq.) He had everything that could be had in that world — wealth, position, and reputation — yet of all the people in that land of antiquity, God called and spoke to him to go from there and to leave all. A point easily missed in this short, simple passage is that he was not told WHERE to go, but simply to go to a place “Which I Will Show You.” In other words, to use a modern analogy, “Leave Now, Pack your bags, Get in the car and just Start Driving in THAT direction…and when you get there I’ll TELL YOU!” As today’s title says, not only for Abram where he came from was not to be nearly as important as what lay in his future, and that was to be re-christened with the name ABRAHAM and to be the father of the entire Jewish nation! Likewise where you have been in this life is also not nearly as important as where God wa

One of the great life lessons I learned in the Boy Scouts was understanding the importance of their simple but profound motto, “Be Prepared,” and that wasn’t more true than in this story... A group of us Scouts were taken on a camping trek to the end of a trail deep in the back of a hilly, dense forest and were put through a survival test that required us to be ready to meet and pass the challenge ahead. In it, we were each required to have and understand how to use a part of the right equipment and tools needed for us to survive, and then working as a team be able to meet the challenge given us. Despite fleeting thoughts of doubt we fortunately did - but if this was truly a matter of life or death then 'Be Prepared' would have been the essential element to get us to pass through the danger. The trek through life is the same way too. We all have to be prepared to meet the needs of this life by doing the right things to survive, but what a

Giving support for the work of the ministry is a vitally important responsibility. Ask yourself though - when the plate is passed on Sunday morning and you drop in that offering, what is your honest motivation? If you think that it is a way of helping your church or favorite ministry while also getting a tax deduction to boot, THINK AGAIN! God is not interested in your money, but your heart . In fact, when you give to gain your offering is an abomination to Him, because He is much more interested in honouring and obeying Him than your booty of sacrifice. (1 Samuel 15:22) The Bible promises blessing to those that give out of a grateful and honest heart, so when 'Funding In Faith' there is a blessing promised to the giver. Now keep in mind that this is NOT a 'Give To Gain' scheme, and just because you give does not mean a tit-for-tat recompense from heaven of showered wealth. God blesses in many different ways so when we give out

Chances are if you are reading this you are somewhere on planet earth and in a human body . “Well, that’s a stupid statement, Pastor Wayne! Of course I am on the earth and in a body, so what’s the point?!?” Well the point is that we are all alive today and (chances are) will most likely also be alive tomorrow too, but eventually we will NOT be either alive OR in this location. You and I will not be “on the earth” or ”in a body” but we WILL BE SOMEWHERE. The question is “WHERE?” Now logically there are a few ways of rationalizing our future location... Some might think that it is simply nowhere â€" we just cease to exist. Others think that we will come back in another form, be it an animal or a person, but as the Bible says in today’s verse, we will all return back to God. At that point we have one or two future locations. You see, while our body will die our soul (our personality) and spirit (who we really are)

Many people have shared amazing accounts of dying and going to heaven and -without exception - have accounted repeated stories of the unspeakable glories and wonders that are there that go far beyond anything man-made on earth. However there IS ONE MAN-MADE thing that WILL be there, and that is the imprints of the iron nails driven by the Roman soldiers that were pounded into the hands of Christ onto the cross at Calvary. In the gospel hymn, “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus” the verse concludes by saying that 'the things of this world will grow strangely dim, in the light of His GLORY and GRACE' and no doubt that is true — yet seeing those nail prints will be a reminder of the sacrifice Christ made for us when He was nailed to that cross. Now admittedly, if you doubt what appears foolhardy about someone dying and then arising from the dead, then you are not alone. Even a man that walked with Christ for three years has historically been memo

Maybe this has happened to you too! You parked and fed the meter, thought there still enough time left, and just as you were returning to your car, the meter maid was placing a ticket on your windshield. You tell them, “Hey! I had time on the meter! That’s not fair!” and they say, “Sorry, your time ran out and you’re too late. There is nothing that can be done now.” You missed your chance to avoid this - and now payment for not acting sooner is due. Being late at the end of your life works just like that too. We are all given just so much time on our “life meter,” but at one point your meter will run out , but did you take care of it before the 'accepted time?' If NOT, judgement comes upon you and then there is nothing you can do about it. Making your choice to accept Christ and be saved from the penalty of eternal death is exactly like this. Don’t be a person that says “I’ll get around to this religion stuff sometime,”

A great mystery - but powerful truth - is the supernatural power of prayer and how it works. A big part of that 'secret' is found in today’s scripture verse. In this life we are born with an innate longing to get help and guidance when we don’t know the answers to life. This is where the “super natural power of prayer” comes in. No one knows exactly how this extraordinary power of prayer changes things or exactly how it works, but it starts with understanding that the source of it is with the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob â€" the LORD GOD of Heaven and Earth. Prayer is simply a conversation with God where we speak to the Father from our hearts â€" and not our minds. This often starts with us speaking the words of the Bible back to God in our prayers. God loves to hear His words spoken to Him and this is 'pleasing' when we do and He listens and can speak back to us most often again through the words in the Bible. T
